J.CO vs. Krispy Kreme

Two big donut companies have set up here in the Philippines. Back in 2006, Krispy Kreme introduced their original glazed donuts to the market and Filipinos were instantly hooked. Almost everyone was carrying polka dot boxes with the iconic Krispy Kreme logo. At present, the same phenomenon is occurring. Since 2012, incredibly long lines have been forming outside J.CO stores and people are bringing home those yellow boxes.

The question remains though, which donut store do you like better?

Variety is not a problem because both shops offer a wide range of donut flavors from the standard chocolate and strawberry ones, to the more outrageous flavors like green tea and avocado. Krispy Kreme even offers themed donuts in time for special occasions like Valentine’s, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Halloween, and Christmas. They also keep up with trends – as evidenced by the Monsters University donuts for the premiere of the much anticipated film, and the Speculoos cookie butter donuts. Krispy Kreme sticks to the original coffee and espresso drinks while J.CO seems to have more product offerings: hot and iced beverages, frappes, frozen yogurt, etc.

Both brand’s signature donuts are equally delightful. Krispy Kreme’s simple yet surprisingly tasty original glazed donuts appealed to all sorts of customers. The soft, melt-in-your-mouth goodness was so good that it easily became the people’s favorite. J.CO’s Alcapone donuts, covered with white chocolate and topped with thinly sliced almonds, are also bestsellers. The not-too-sweet donut is perfectly balanced out with the crunch of the almonds.
